Getting a little extra green for your dollar is something that feels a little extra needed this year. 2020 has been a rough one to say the least, and a large part of that hit has been economic. Any way to get more value for your dollar is likely to go a long way, and as many cannabis consumers are aware, what the rest of the retail market refers to as “Black Friday,” is also a big sales day for the cannabis industry, commonly dubbed, “Green Friday.”
Whether you’re shopping for yourself or getting started on a gift list early, Green Friday can be an excellent way to save some cash on cannabis around the holidays.
Why Shop on Green Friday?
Wait, isn’t Black Friday that loathsome testament to unbridled capitalism that sees people regularly trampled in the name of saving a few hundred bucks on a television? So infamously horrible that someone made an entire website to track the unfortunate deaths it causes? Why would the chill world of cannabis consumers want any part of that?
While the driver might be similar (business is business, and with the end of the financial year looming, companies are concerned about making a profit), the experience tends to be a bit different.
Though highly trafficked dispensaries will likely be more packed than ever, the practice of Green Friday discounts tends to a day-long affair with a more chill ambiance. Yes, certain things sell out, but there are usually other good deals to be found.
No experience is universal, but overall Green Friday has more of a “Small Business Saturday,” vibe going. For those that have shopped on 4/20, that tends to get the Black Friday-style craziness one expects (or for a weird alternate, SuperBowl Sunday is the largest weed sales day of the year in some places). Our overall advice is to not fear Green Friday. Of all the famous Fridays (be it the 13th, Black, Green, Casual, or Freaky), it may very well be the best.
Green Friday Marijuana Deals
Discounts tend to fall into two categories: deeply reduced item-specific sales and a general store-wide discounts on all items. To find the best deal, consider what you’re looking for, and what size of purchase you’re looking to make. A little planning can go a long way before making the trek to the dispensary. After all, a great deal on edibles doesn’t do much for flower fans. Alternately, someone looking to purchase a variety of items will want to seek out the best store-wide deal.
We’ve pulled some choice discounts for a sampling of what’s being offered, but there are far too many to list them all. Check out our deals directories to see what’s on sale near you!
**Please note that each cannabis deal has set expiration dates. Please click into each deal to review fine print and any restrictions that may apply before visiting a dispensary to redeem a deal. You will need to present the PotGuide deal coupon (can be done electronically) to your budtender for any savings to be applied to your purchase.**
