It looks like YouTube video ads will soon take on a new level.
Bloomberg, citing its own sources, writes that the company wants to sell various goods on YouTube. That is, the user will be able to directly make a purchase by simply clicking on the product while watching the video and without going to the websites of third-party stores. As a result, YouTube will be able to compete with giants like Amazon and Alibaba.
Now the new function is being tested, for this, the authors need to install a special program for marking and tracking goods from videos. In addition, integration with the Shopify platform (an internet company that develops software for online and retail stores) is being tested.
One YouTube official has confirmed testing the feature on certain channels. At the same time, the authors of the videos can control which products are displayed in the video. The company calls this an experiment and refuses to disclose other details.
