Position Summary:

This position is responsible for authoring automotive diagnostic articles that include quick tests to help customers diagnose and repair vehicles more effectively than OEM data alone; supporting moderation of ALLDATA’s Community product; providing trustworthy advice to maintain on-going positive relationships with ALLDATA customers, ensuring trust and creating a strong basis for continued customer loyalty; publishing Tech-Assist cases into EBRS database; providing 2nd level support to Technical Editor III and II staff.

Position Responsibilities- Other duties may be assigned:

  • Utilize PC/IT administrative tools to author automotive diagnostic strategies and procedures from Tech-Assist cases and other sources to create diagnostic and repair strategies and quick tests for EBRS database.

  • Provide support for ALLDATA Community. Guide customers with vehicle diagnosis and repairs via Community by providing personal automotive expertise to help them facilitate successful repairs. This includes conducting research via several resources available.

  • General responsibilities: Answer emails, participate in meetings, committees, and other duties as assigned. Assist other individuals, groups or departments when necessary to support internal and external customers and company objectives. Participate in software testing and any other special project or assignment as needed.

  • This position has no direct reports.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Automotive and/or Diesel Technology or related work experience

  • Minimum 6 years’ professional automotive experience: diagnostic, repair, data, shop management, engineering or teaching experience

  • Current ASE Master Automobile certifications A1 – A8 (or equivalent)

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of automotive diagnostic methodologies and system operating strategies

  • Strong skills in using electronically delivered automotive information programs (such as: ALLDATA, OEM websites, Identifix, Mitchell On-Demand, Technical forums)

  • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills

  • Proficient computer skills – Windows based applications such as: MS Office (Excel,Word,Outlook), Adobe, image editing, and various internet browsers

  • Proficient data entry and typing skills

  • Writing/authoring skills

  • Must pass the ALLDATA Diagnostic Consultant 2 written examination

  • L1 ASE certification, preferred

  • 2nd language/ Bilingual, desirable (Spanish preferred)

  • Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location, or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more senses of medium intensity and long duration.
