By the looks of it, she planned the heist, but not very well.
Last Friday morning, 42-year-old Gwendolyn Braswell drove a Pontiac Sunfire into a Home Depot in Trussville, Alabama at around 9:00am, when the store was open and full of customers. She didn’t simply drive through the doors and stop, she drove down an aisle, scattering customers and clipping displays, to where she’d previously staged items she intended to steal, including a leaf blower and a dehumidifier.
The police identified her with the help of many witnesses who took down the license plate number and recorded the event on video. Braswell is facing multiple charges, including burglary, criminal mischief, and theft.
To make things worse, she took the car without the owner’s consent. What was she going to say, “I’m going to drive through Home Depot, you want anything?”
